interface/device not running though attached on the server.

Hello ,
I'm trying to find out the reason why the device though attached on the server is showing device not running.
Please help me out why this issue is occurring :
1.Interface is attached on the VMware end.
2.Interface is showing connected in VMware Vcenter end.
3.Ifup eth0 is showing :
device-not-running
4.IP is static and set all good.
