Fedora Kinoite or Linux Mint for elderly relatives
by Asterixs from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6NN9Z)
Hi there,
Just joined up here and am hoping for some help/recommendations please.
I'm organising a replacement laptop for some elderly relatives whose current laptop is past its use by date and causing them issues. They're currently on Windows but I've got a second hand HP Probook for them and am just wanting advice on which Linux distro to go with, either Mint or Fedora Kinoite. They live around an hour and a half away so I'm wanting something very stable and secure that just works for them and that will be an easy transition from Windows.
I'm certainly not a Linux expert, I've been using Linux Mint for over 10 years personally and like it, but I've recently tried out Fedora Kinoite (Atomic) after doing some research and am wondering if that might be a better option for them? It seems stable and I like the fallback option and auto updating and that the relatives shouldn't be able to break anything on it. But as I'm not familiar with it like I am with Mint, I'm keen to know about any potential issues. I want the option to be able to remote access into the machine to troubleshoot but ultimately just want it to work and not cause issues.
Their use case is very basic - mainly web browsing and email.
Any thoughts and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
