F40 randomly hanging on boot
by jonrpick from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6NQ3E)
As the title states...
I'm running Fedora 40 LXQT, although I had this problem on the Xfce spin as well.
I'll power up the laptop, Grub will appear with the list of install kernels plus the recovery option. I'll select the newest kernel, and it'll either boot, or it'll hang on the splash screen forever. A normal boot shows the splash screen for about 15 seconds, then goes to a black screen before the login screen appears.
When it hangs, I can hit the Esc key and see the text showing the boot process. The text is always brown in color, and at the bottom will be a message like so:
Code:Job NetworkManager.service/start running (1min 31s / 10min 6s)I can't do a proper screen shot since the system isn't up. But I would assume this is being logged somewhere, so that it can be properly analyzed to find the failure point. Am I wrong?
Additional info: Sometimes shutting down and trying again works. Sometimes it won't, so a 3rd attempt is required where I'll end up choosing a different kernel version, or recovery option. Also, I did updates just an hour ago. The problem existed on the previous kernel version, and also on the current one.
Where should I begin here?
Thanks
