Install Linux on Blank Hard Drive & Run my pc exclusively on Linux

Hi, I'm trying to figure out how to replace Windows 10 with a linux os or an alternative. I'm getting ready to install a new hard drive and I want to run my pc exclusively on a Linux system. Is there a good version for a noob and how should I download this system to install it on a blank harddrive? Thanks
