Ignore: Kernels 6.9.9 and 6.9.10 hosed wifi on ancient laptops
by hpfeil from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6PBNR)
I'm still running kernel 6.9.8 on an HP 15-af131dx laptop because `ip route` leaves wlan0 in linkdown on the two later kernels. I can bring wlan0 up, `ifconfig` works, can't even ping my DSL modem. Reinstalling 6.8.8 restores internet and local-net. I don't know what kernel changes caused this, so I don't know what to report upstream. The HP 15-db0011d has only "lo" listed in /sys/class/net, no eth0 or wlan0. Not a problem to fix, one laptop is ddrepair-ing disc-rotted DVDs, the other is connected to a flat-screen TV and stereo system for streaming, so no worries. Just saying I'm baffled.
