rsync, sluggish and/or timing out
by baumei from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6PFW4)
Shortly after the recent Crowdstrike debacle I was installing software updates on my flock of computers running Slackware. During the process I had occasion to rerun on one of these computers my script which uses rsync to download the updates, and it timed-out. This was very odd, so I stopped applying updates, just in case the problem was software-update related.
For several days I figured the timing-out was a network problem related to the Crowdstrike mess, but lately I have begun to suspect the cause is one of the updates, or an incompatibility between the configuration of my computers and one of the updates.
Is anyone else seeing sluggishness, and/or timing out, in the behavior of rsync?
I am thinking of reverting "openssh-9.8p1-x86_64-3_slack15.0.txz" to whatever version I was previously running, in order to see whether the problem goes away.
