Any e-mail providers support old Android device reader apps?

I need an e-mail account for my old phone.
It has come to my attention Google has recently made KitKat (4.4) obsolete, thus we can login to Gmail by browser but not IMAP app.
I am searching but hoping someone might already know where to turn.
