What do I need to do to prepare a hard drive for Linux if it has Windows installed?
by Relztrah from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6PHN8)
I have a laptop with a M.2 SSD (C) and a standard SSD (D). I can boot to either in the setup. I would like to leave Windows on the M.2 and install Linux on the other SSD. It currently has Windows from before I put the M.2 in.
How to I need to prepare the original SSD (D) for Linux? Format? Partition? Of course all Windows files, master boot records, drivers, program files, etc. are still on SSD (D) and I don't need any data that is currently on it.
And then what is the process? Should I boot into Windows from the original SSD (D) and install Linux from there or download the installation files to a DVD and do it that way?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
