After losing her son to gun violence, Shaundelle Brooks knew she had to do something big.

Brooks' son, Akilah DaSilva, was killed in a mass shooting at a Nashville Waffle House in 2018 that left four dead and two wounded. His death launched Brooks into advocacy.
