55 inch touchscreen question!!
by chicken dance from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6PN0J)
Hi all,
So I have been given a 55 inch touchscreen panel as used in classrooms, meeting room, conference rooms etc. It is not even a year old and is worth about 3500$. Being a multi touch (20 point), 4K, and very responsive when not under load. The problem with this screen is the stupid android os. It is ridiculously clunky, junky, difficultly complicated with multiple login crashes and pages that simply do not load. However the screen itself is awesome, big and smooth to operate with a very decent resolution.
Can I give the Android OS The boot and install a suitable Linux distribution?
My intended purpose for this is to use it as a DAW surface controller for audio production. But right now it is just too junky with android as the os. I do realise that I can just hook up my pc to the screen and be done with it, but that kind of bricks 2500$ worth of equipment, what isnit being used on the panel that is.
Thank you!
