NVIDIA driver problem: black screen after logout from KDE in Slackware64-current
by sairum from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6PPZC)
Just FYI
System:
Code:AMD Ryzen 7 5700G
NVIDIA Corporation GP108 [GeForce GT 1030] (rev a1)
Slackware64-current (multilib)
Kernel 6.9.12
KDE Plasma 5.27.11
NVIDIA driver 550.107.2 (latest)Usually I boot to runlevel 3, and start X with 'startx'. After logout from KDE, screen remains black with no hint that the PC is running. It is still running because blindly typing su and entering root password and then shutdown -r now reboots the computer!
Works OK with nouveau, so it's a NVIDIA problem. In KDE, one cannot use the Ctrl-Alt-Fx combination to switch to real ttys if using nvidia's driver.
