Simone Biles misses gold on floor and beam on final day of Olympic gymnastics

Simone Biles missed out on her fourth gold medal of Paris 2024 after a surprise result in the floor routine. The American, who had already won golds at these Games in the team, individual all-around and vault, finished second behind Brazil's Rebeca Andrade. Biles's US teammate Jordan Chiles,thought she had missed out on bronze but the judges changed their score on appeal and she leapt into third place.

Earlier in the day, Biles had finished fifth in the beam final after a fall. Italy's Alice D'Amato didn't win that final so much as survive it. But a routine that avoided major errors turned out to be enough for the 21-year-old from Brescia to win an improbable Olympic title, her country's first ever gold medal in artistic gymnastics, sharing the podium with teammate Manila Esposito, who earned bronze.
