Is it rational that I refuse to use paypal due to not supporting big monopolies but use a bank?

I went to checkout at an online shop recently and they only offered paypal. Due to getting ripped off due to the horrible bias pp/ebay have for siding with the buyer, no matter what, I got a vendetta against using them and closed my accounts with them a few years ago.
I told the shop I don't use paypal and they give the "it's fine it's secure we used it since 2002 no problem" and I told them I did it out of principle not to support big companies.
They responded teasing me saying "what like banks you mean?" and emoji, since I had suggested rather paying by bank transfer.
I responded that it is more pick your poison and that banks protect your data and don't sell it like something like paypal.
Was my argument correct? I have not really looked into but I assume you have better data protection rights with banks than some place like paypal who farm and sell your data.
I suppose it is 2 fold - hating the monopoly companies for their heavy handed approach to dealing with sellers since it is easier to penalise sellers because you must keep buyers happy no matter what so doesn't matter if you crush sellers to keep buyers happy and also data selling. Both go under the umbrella of treating the small guy like shit due to being massive corporations that are 'too big to fail' so does come under the same ideal of not supporting big companies for their general callous practices.
