Mint 21.3 Update for Intel CPU provided by Update Manager
by speedydries from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6Q2V6)
Hi there,
I am using a desktop with Mint 21.3 Cinnamon 64 bits. The machine used to belong to my son who is a gamer and assembled it from scratch and it consists of:
Motherboard: ASRock FM2A88M Extreme 4+
BIOS: American Megatrends Inc.
CPU: AMD A10-5800K APU with Radeon (tm) HD Graphics
VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA GM107 (GeForce GTX 750 Ti)
Recently the Update Manager presented me with an update for intel i686 and intel X86-46 processors.
For what reason do I get these updates? I have no Intel components on my machine.
Even more: in the past I used to install those updates but a few months ago I had my system frozen after such an update. I had this before and then I was able to reset using Timeshift and all worked well again. But the last time I couldn't even get the machine up again and had to perform a clean install on another disk .... having lost all my data, mostly logins and such (I can still 'read' the files on that disk but not the ones that are locked).
So my main question here is: how do I solve this so that these updates stop?
Or do I have to launch this question on a Mint forum?
Thank you for giving me a hint
