Gnome Tweaks Cursor Crash Problem

Hey everyone! So I ended up coming back to Ubuntu, so that I could use Gnome 46 DE. I tried Kubuntu for a few days and it wasn't bad or anything, but there's just certain things about the way Gnome DE works and looks that I really want and like. So anyways, I went with regular old Ubuntu 24.04 LTS with the Gnome 46 DE.

But just yesterday I encountered a strange problem while starting to go through the OS and see where things are, how it works, etc and I starting to work on all my customization tweaks I want to do. To make the desktop and all of the apps look and feel how I want. So of course, you have to get Gnome Tweaks to do most of it. So I download that, and start looking around in there, and click on the Cursors drop down and all of a sudden my computer crashes and some blank screen says something like: Oh NO! Something went wrong or Error! Something to that effect. So I just shut down the computer and decided it was just some freak crash error. I'll work on this stuff tomorrow or on the weekend when I have time.

So today, I'm watching this video on YT about how to modify your DE in Gnome using Gnome Tweaks and low and behold, I found out a little bit about why my computer crashed. This guy says DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES touch the cursors button. There is a known issue in Gnome Tweaks with the cursor button drop down and it usually makes your system crash or break! Don't touch it!

So now I know why it crashed. But the most important thing I need to figure out now, is: is there a way to change the cursors to what I want, without it crashing my system? Do Ubuntu, Gnome or Gnome Tweaks even know about it? Are they goin to do anything to fix it? And follow up, is Gnome Tweaks a good or buggy program? Am I going to continue to have problems using it? Is it going to crash or break my system and lose everything I do on it, causing me to have to do a total reinstall of Ubuntu?

I really can't find any answers to these questions online. Just a lot of people saying it's happening to them, then all sorts of either not helpful at all responses up to some people able to reset their system and reset all the Gnome Tweaks they did back to default. But that's it. Nothing else about how to fix this issue? How to edit your cursors without it crashing your system.

Also, just an observation in the short time I've had Linux and been TRYING to use it. It's NOT user friendly. It's not totally customizable like everyone claims it is. It's got all sorts of problems. It has a very high learning curve. And even though technically you do have lots of options in how you want to customize your DE, you have to make ALL SORTS of compromises.

So just looking for some sage advice from those in the know. Can I use Gnome 46, use Gnome Tweaks and Gnome Extensions and have the system work just fine and be stable? Or is that probably not going to happen? And in general, are most mainstream Linux distros like this? Like how I'm experiencing them. Glitchy, buggy, problems, hard to use? Or not?
