need help with motherboard

I just built 2 computers. Motherboard-Tyan Thunder K7 s2885, dual opteron proccessors, 8 banks of pc3200 memory, HIS video card, diamond 7.1 audio.
Problem..motherboard uses american megatrend bios and as such, cannot enter bios . Also will not recognize my sata hdd, but will recognize the ata hdd.
Can load linuz using the ata hdd, but will not allow me to utilize all 16gb of memory, but half. A couple linux distros will not recognize the video card. It is radeon powered.
I want to run zorin os on one computer and mageia on the other.
both have the tyan s2885 motherboard.
with the ata hdd, i am able to enter the bios, but cannot find any sata/raid choice.
Any suggestions??
