Trying to securely clean/remove data on old netbooks before disposal

I have a couple of old netbooks of which I wish to dispose. I wish to dispose of so parts can be salvaged rather than physically destroy the drives. Their keyboards are n/w. I can see there are a few options with ssds that are different to how HDDs are cleaned. It has been suggested that the inbuilt ATA wipe be used but there are none on these two basic netbooks. I have also seen that an encryption should be applied after/ before a wipe with limited success. Does anybody have any ideas that are easy, reliable ways to render them unrecoverable?
