On Tuesday, popular singer-songwriter, Taylor Swift, made headlines after she formally extended her support to Kamala Harris in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.

Just a few days ago, an AI campaign went viral that implied that Swift might be supporting Trump. In fact, Trump himself shared some of those images on his social media platform Truth Social. That's the main reason she felt the need to come clean about who she truly supports.

What Did Taylor Swift Say?

In a post shared on Instagram on September 10, she said that she will be voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the upcoming election.

She also praised Harris and called her a gifted leader with a steady hand who can accomplish so much for the country. She was also impressed by Harris's selection of Tim Walz as her running mate.

Walz is best known for his work in LGBTQ+ activism and supporting women's rights, especially their reproductive rights.

In the end, she said that she had done her research and was making this decision accordingly. Others are free to do their own research and vote for whoever they want, the choice is theirs.

She also urged first-time voters to remember to register before they vote. In addition to that, she shared links to the registration portal and information on voting dates on her story to make it easier for first-timers.

Last but not least, she took a final dig at Trump and his team by signing the post as childless cat lady"; a term which was used by Trump's running mate, Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, to describe women who do not have kids. She even added a photo of her cat Benjamin Button with her in the post.

What Does Swift's Endorsement Mean for Harris?

It's no secret that Taylor Swift has a tremendous fanbase. With over 284 million followers on Instagram, her support certainly brings Harris a little closer to victory.

• In fact, according to a national NBC News poll, 40% of the voters viewed Swift in a positive light while only 16% viewed her negatively.
• Similarly, 53% of Democrats and 28% of Republicans viewed her in a positive light. So this is certainly good for Harris's campaign.

Speaking of the campaign, this was quite a surprise for the team.

In fact, Walz found out about her support during a live post-debate interview with MSNBC's Rachel Maddow. In response, he patted his chest, smiled, and praised Swift's words, saying That's the kind of courage we need in America to stand up.

However, her support was no surprise to us. Even during the 2020 election, she very clearly extended her support to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

Plus, Swift and Trump never gelled well. They both seem to have starkly contrasting views. Trump once said that Swift always supports Democrats and one day she'll pay the price for it in the marketplace.
