[SOLVED] I have two /etc/shadow and /etc/gshadow

One is /etc/shadow and the other is /etc/shadow- and /etc/gshadow and /etc/gshadow-. In both cases, the one ending with "-" is older. I used diff with both pairs and newer versions look like they have users that were added by some operations I executed. I'm assuming the files ending with "-" are some kind of temp files that stuck around and I can delete them?
