LOCAL LAX STARS AT WORLDS
Port Elgin's Ian MacKay and Flesherton's Tori Verbeek will join Team Canada at the World Lacrosse Box Championships, set to take place from September 20 to 29 in Utica, New York. Verbeek joins Team Canada for the first-ever women's box lacrosse championship. She is a graduate student at St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY. She transferred to St. Lawrence from the University of Guelph where she played for the Gryphons hockey team. She played hockey, rugby and basketball at Grey Highlands Secondary School. Meanwhile, MacKay, who plays professionally for the Buffalo Bandits of the National Lacrosse League, will join Team Canada for the men's championship.
