Internal SD card reader
by vmelkon from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6QX23)
Hello,
I pulled an old internal SD card reader thing from some old PC. Maybe it was a Dell.
It has a XD card slot, micro SD, compact flash, some other thing and a USB 2.0
Internally, it connects to a USB 2.0 header on the mobo.
It was working ok with Kubuntu 22.04 although I don't use it to read SD cards much.
Now I am on Kubuntu 24.04
If I boot up and log in, I insert a SD card, Kubuntu detects a USB device. I can open Dolphin and read from the card to transfer files to the HDD.
Then I eject the SD card from the GUI, it says it is safe to remove so I remove.
If I plug the SD card back in, it is no longer detected.
I would have to reboot the OS for the SD card to get detected again.
Any way to find out what is going on?
If I insert a USB stick, it is fine.
