What's New on Max in October 2024
It's time to head back to Salem's Lot: After a lengthy delay that frustrated fans, the filmmakers, and Stephen King alike, the new adaptation of the horror master's seminal 1975 vampire novel is finally hitting the Max streaming service in October, just in time for prime spooky season.
Directed by Gary Dauberman, who helmed the three films in the Annabelle series and co-wrote the recent two-film adaptation of King's It, the straight-to-streaming Salem's Lot is the third adaptation of the book, after earlier miniseries takes in 1979 and 2004. It arrives on Max Oct. 3. (Incidentally, the aforementioned Annabelle movies as well as It: Chapter One and It: Chapter Two start streaming on Max on Oct. 1).
If you're looking for a bit of counter-programming, also arriving on Max this month is the third season of the gentle, melancholy comedy drama Somebody Somewhere (Oct. 27); The Franchise (Oct. 6), an eight-part satire about the making of a fictional superhero movie from Veep creator Armando Iannucci; and a new comedy special from Seth Meyers (date TBA).
