Best way to erase free disk space?

On LM,don't need to erase the whole disk or certain files as I can do that with shred but need to wipe numerous files sometimes and a wipe free disk space would be perfect. Not a fan of bleachbut as I've heard it can cause issues in Linux or wasn't designed for it. What options do I have?
