IMDb Rating: 7.5/10

PG: 13
Synopsis: A family fights for survival in a world where terrifying creatures are drawn to kill by even the slightest sound. In this post-apocalyptic horror, director John Krasinski stars alongside his real-life wife Emily Blunt.
It's the story of the Abbott family, who fight for survival in a world where blind alien creatures with an acute sense of hearing have obliterated most of humanity.
As the terrifying creatures are drawn to sound, the family has to remain completely silent, which, of course, means dialogue in this film is extremely minimal. This adds to the intensity, foreboding, and fear factor.
The highly successful 2018 release of A Quiet Place spawned a sequel in 2020, which we also recommend watching. And in June this year, a prequel hit the silver screen.
A Quiet Place: Day One, starring Lupita Nyong'o, Joseph Quinn, and Alex Wolff, is currently available only in cinemas. We'll let you know as soon as it launches on streaming services.

However, many of them include a free trial, which means you can watch our top five horror films for free.
Paramount+, AMC+ Shudder, Hulu, Prime Video, and Fubo all offer a seven-day free trial, although Netflix and Disney+ do not.Of course, torrenting is also an option, though we don't recommend it, especially if you're not using a good VPN like Surfshark.
What to Do if a Horror Movie isn't Available in Your RegionEver wonder why a certain movie is available in one country but not another? Take A Quiet Place, for instance. You can stream it on Netflix if you're in Canada, but not if you're in the US.
That's because of licensing rights, which is also why most streaming services have geo-restrictions. But this is where a VPN like Surfshark can save the day.
You won't find A Quiet Place' on Netflix US without using a VPNA VPN enables you to change your IP address to another region, and that means you can subscribe to a streaming service that's not available in your home country.
For instance, AMC+ isn't available in South Africa, but by changing my IP address to a US server, I can subscribe to AMC+ and stream Stopmotion or Late Night With The Devil.
You can also use this trick to unblock geo-restricted content on platforms you already use, like Netflix.

In our opinion, Surfshark is a no-brainer, and not only because it has the cheapest subscription. This powerful VPN has thousands of servers around the world.
It's also surprisingly fast - no lagging makes it ideal for streaming. That said, what really impressed us is that one subscription can be used on an unlimited number of devices.
This is quite rare, even with some of the very best VPNs, like NordVPN, which is limited to ten devices/subscription. It's what makes Surfshark perfect for families.
And if you do decide to take the torrenting route, Surfshark will keep your identity completely private, which is a must when downloading horror flicks on a peer-to-peer network.
Final ThoughtsThese top five scary movies to watch in 2024 are guaranteed to have you on the edge of your seat.
And you can stream them all from the comfort of your home (with the lights on or off), no matter where in the world you live.
As mentioned earlier, most streaming services have geo-restrictions, but a good VPN like Surfshark is your instant movie ticket to all the frights, chills, and horror you can stomach.
Try Surkshark NowFAQS What is the best horror movie ever? This really depends on how you like your horror - dark and psychological or blood and guts galore. We're big fans of The Shining, which is an excellent movie, and based on a Stephen King novel. That said, award-winning horrors like Rosemary's Baby, Aliens, Misery, Get Out, Black Swan, and Silence of the Lambs are all definitely worth watching.
What is the most expensively made horror movie? The most expensively made horror movie is said to be 2013's World War Z. Starring Brad Pitt, it had a massive budget of $190M. By comparison, A Quiet Place had a $17M budget. By the way, World War Z's gross profit stands at $540M, while A Quiet Place brought in $340M.
What is the highest-grossing horror movie?IMDb puts Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as the highest-grossing horror, at $955M. But, with no disrespect to IMDb, we think of that movie as more of sci-fi/fantasy and not a horror. It doesn't come close to the chills and thrills of Stephen King's It (2017). It comes in second place, according to the database, at $701M.
