Whatsapp has introduced a new update that will finally let users change their background during a video call, both group and individual calls. The feature is similar to what Zoom already offers. You can blur the background or simply add a new one.

  • There are 9 exciting backgrounds to choose from - Living room, Office, Cafe, Pebbles, Smoosh, Beach, Sunset, Forest, and Celebration.
  • That's not all - just like Zoom, WhatsApp is also bringing filters to video calls. There are 10 filters - Warm, Cool, Black & White, Light Leak, Prism Light, Dreamy, Fisheye, Vintage TV, Frosted glass, and Duotone.

In addition to the filters, it will also add a touch up" and low light" option to enhance your video.

These filters will help you feel more confident and comfortable by naturally enhancing the look and brightness of your environment, making your video calls more vibrant and enjoyable" the company wrote in its blog.

Using it is pretty simple. When you are on the call, just click on the effects option in the top right corner of your screen. It will display the options for filters and backgrounds and you can choose one from there. The update will be available to everyone in the coming weeks.

You Can Now Talk to Meta AI

Looks like Meta has decided to transform WhatsApp by the end of 2024. Along with these filters and backgrounds, you'll now also be able to talk to Meta AI.

Meta AI has already been introduced on WhatsApp. But right now, you can only chat with it. However, with this new update, you'll be able to talk to it in real time through voice chat.

Plus, you can also send photos and ask questions about it. For instance, you can send it a picture of a plant and ask how to take care of it or you can send it a picture of a dessert and ask how to make it. The options are endless.

In addition to that, you can also send pictures and ask it to edit it. It's not a replacement for professional editing but it can remove an unwanted stranger from your picture or change the color of any object.

It's also planning to expand its business AI tool (for those using Whatsapp Business) so that users can get faster responses.
