Another Optimism Airdrop: 54,700 Users Receive $16 Million in OP Tokens
Popular Ethereum Layer 2 network Optimism has rolled out its fifth airdrop, rewarding its loyal and active users.The airdrop saw 10.3 million Optimism tokens, worth around $16 million,distributed to over 54,000 users.
This airdrop rewards users who have interacted with the Superchain ecosystem for over six months.
Fifth Optimism Airdrop Targets Superchain UsersOptimism has distributed $16 million in OP tokens to 54,000 active users, concluding its fifth airdrop round. The airdrop rewards users who interacted with the Superchain, a group of interconnected blockchains built using the OP Stack, including OP Mainnet, Base, Zora, Mode, etc.
This strategic airdrop focuses on users who have shown significant engagement within the Superchain ecosystem, encouraging further participation.
The Optimism team wrote: Airdrop #5 rewards power users who have contributed to the growth of the Superchain Ecosystem," recognizing the community's involvement.
The airdrop targeted wallets that had interacted with at least 20 contracts on these chains. Optimism said the eligible users were active over six months, from March 15 to September 15.
You made at least ten app transactions per week in at least 20 distinct weeks during the eligibility period from March 15, 2024, to September 15, 2024," Optimism's other requirement.
Optimism shared that users have until February 13, 2025, to claim their tokens.
Additional Criteria and Bonus AllocationsIn addition to the basic eligibility of interacting with 20 contracts, Optimism included user bonus criteria. These bonuses were granted to those who delegated a minimum amount of OP tokens (9,000 OP).
To gain the bonus, users must have engaged with at least seven chains on the Superchain. This approach encourages users to remain active across multiple networks within the ecosystem, rewarding them for their broader participation.
You participated in at least 5 SuperFest missions during the campaign period from July 9, 2024, to September 3, 2024," said Optimism.
Optimism has been consistent with its airdrop strategy, with this fifth round being another step in its mission to reward its dedicated users.
Since its first airdrop in May 2022, the network has distributed large quantities of the OP token.Thenetwork distributed 10.3 million tokens to 22.9 thousand addresses during its fourth airdrop.
On September 18, 2023, Optimism rewarded 31.9 thousand active addresses with 19.4 million OP tokens valued at $26 million.
Optimism's airdrops have been vital in boosting user engagement within its ecosystem. The success of previous airdrops,including this latest one, reflects the increasing demand for Optimism.
Meanwhile, the success of this airdrop has not been reflected in the price of OP tokens. In the past 24 hours, the token has lost 6% of its value, trading at $1.53. Over the past seven days, OP has recorded a slight decline of 1.57%.
