  • Apple will introduce a new caller ID for businesses similar to Truecaller. Businesses can use it to filter out spam callers and customers can use it to verify a business.
  • This feature can also be used to create verified business listings on Apple Wallet, Mail, and Messages.
  • The feature is still in the testing phase and is expected to come out next year.

Apple is planning to introduce a new caller ID recognition feature for businesses. It will work just like Truecaller, revealing the true identity of a caller so that businesses can differentiate between potential customers and spam callers.

It works both ways - this means that customers can also use this service to verify a business call.

Businesses that register for this service will be marked as Verified". Their business name and logos will be displayed on the devices of the customers they are trying to call.

There are two benefits of this - the business will stand out from the crowd of spam callers and customers will feel safe while answering those calls.

What More Can This Feature Do?
  • The caller ID feature helps improve brand visibility and communication between brands and customers.
  • Apart from filtering calls, it also helps businesses set up a branded display on Mail and Phone Apps.
  • When the brand name and logo are present in the emails you send to your customers, they stand out from the rest of the spammy emails and become more authentic & recognizable.
  • In a similar way, businesses can also create branded listings on Apple Maps, Siri, Messages, and Apple Wallets.
How to Sign up & Who Can Register?

The feature is still in the testing stage and is expected to roll out next year.Speaking of who can register, the service will be available for all - offline businesses, online businesses, small and large businesses.

To register, you'll just need an Apple ID. Then you'll have to share your business name and a few key details about your brand to get a verified business ID.

Apple has always designed its products around user safety and privacy. We all know that iOS is comparatively safer than Android. Similarly, Macs are known to be safer than Windows. So it's no surprise that the company is introducing a safety feature for calls.

After all, it's the need of the hour. Phishing attempts through scam calls are at an all-time high.

Authorities have noticed this crisis and have taken the necessary steps. Regulation has helped decrease phone call scams by 18% but there's still a long way to go.
