Floodlight cameras are a double-whammy for intruders since you get a camera and bright lights on them. There's a lot of variety out there for these cameras and things to know before you get into them since not all brands offer the same services. Two good brands, Ring and Blink, are owned by Amazon, but out of the two, Ring cameras are more premium and don't go on sale as often. Right now, the Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Plus is currently $119.99 (originally $199.99), sitting at its lowest price according to price-checking tools. It comes with two bright LED lights, HD video, subject-tracking, color night vision, and other features.

The Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Plus came out in 2021 with an "excellent" review from PCMag for its HDR video, dual-band wifi, 3D motion-detection and subject-tracking features, fast alerts, and color night vision. But in 2024, some of these "pros" look more like cons. Most floodlight cameras these days are 4K, so 1080p resolution is weak. Also, only being compatible with Alexa and IFTTT is very limiting (but expected from an Amazon product). However, what this camera still does well in 2024 is offering the two bright 2,000-lumens LED lights along with the other pros for $119.

Keep in mind that if you want to record your videos, review footage for up to 180 days, and share videos and photos, you'll need a Ring Protect Plan subscription in addition to the purchase of the equipment. Those plans start at $3.99 per month.

If you're looking for a more modern floodlight camera around the same price, consider the Reolink 4K Floodlight Camera for $152.99 (originally $189.99) after the $27 on-page coupon. You can also read writer Amanda Blum's picks for best outdoor security cameras for 2024.
