Independent senator says parliament house is a very violent workplace' after being suspended for making inappropriate comments

Lidia Thorpe says she wears her suspension from the Senate as a badge of honour" and has described Parliament House as a very violent workplace" filled with mainly white men in suits".

The Senate voted to suspend Thorpe on Wednesday night for making inappropriate" and sometimes abusive comments" in the chamber, after she appeared to throw paper at Pauline Hanson during a tense parliamentary debate earlier in the day.
