MITRE Warns CVE Program Faces Disruption (Security Week)

Security Week is one of several outlets reportingthat the funding for the CVE program at MITRE disappears as ofApril16.

Maintained by MITRE Corporation, a not-for-profit organization thatoperates federal R&D centers, the CVE program is funded throughmultiple channels, including the U.S. government, industrypartnerships, and international organizations.

Earlier this month, in anticipation of the US government fundingcuts, MITRE initiated layoffs that affected more than 400 employeesin its Virginia office. The cuts were ordered after the Trumpadministration announced more than $28 million in canceledcontracts for the company.
