SPORTS BRIEFS: JEWL N'Stars dominate in opener

The Owen Sound Creative Playgrounds North Stars Junior Elite Women's Lacrosse (JEWL) team kicked off their 2025 season in style with a commanding 23-10 win over the Orangeville Northmen on Thursday night. From there, Owen Sound took control. The team rattled off six unanswered goals and entered halftime with a comfortable 10-5 lead. The North Stars didn't let up in the second half, continuing their relentless pace, outscoring Orangeville 13-5 the rest of the way to seal the decisive victory. Wilkins and Doyle led the way offensively, each netting four goals. Doyle also added six assists for an impressive 10-point performance. Laine Nissen and Madison Playter contributed hat tricks, while Hannah Davies and Camryn Laycock each tallied a pair. Rounding out the scoring were Taryn Weppler, Leah Cooper, Edyn Byer, Aliviah McCall, and London Doyle with one goal apiece.
