Latest TE UpdatesDarren Waller, Dolphins - Coming out of retirement rarely works out for NFL players, so Waller is facing an uphill battle towards a return to fantasy prominence. Having his former tight ends coach Frank Smith as his new OC certainly helps, but it will be tough to carve out a significant target share next to Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and De'Von Achane. Remember, Waller's biggest years came when he was one of the Raiders' top pass-catchers. He won't be asked to star like that in Miami. I've placed him among the big group of fantasy TE2s who have a path to low-end TE1 production if things break their way.
Jonnu Smith/Pat Freiermuth, Steelers - Smith being traded to Pittsburgh is a major hit to the fantasy outlooks for both him and Freiermuth. Prior to this deal, Smith was headed towards another top-10 season and Freiermuth was flirting with back-end TE1 territory in my rankings. Now, they've both fallen into the aforementioned TE2 range with Waller and will be hard to trust in your lineup on a weekly basis.
