For someone who can be as pleased by a bowl of instant ramen as they are with a fancy steakhouse dinner, you'd think I'd be okay with a cup of bodega coffee or Maxwell house. It turns out I'm quite bougie when it comes to coffee, and I'd rather be tired than drink a subpar brew. One of my favorite at-home coffee gadgets to make my morning routine even more lavish is The Dreo All-in-1 BaristaMaker milk frother.

I tested it rigorously in my kitchen for months and reviewed it with a coffee snob's lens. The verdict: It makes at-home micro-foamed or frothed milk like you've never pulled off before. Right now, it's on sale for Amazon's Prime Day.

I've tried many at-home espresso set-ups before. They've all been the type of machine that primarily makes espresso and then you foam the milk with the steam wand over on the side. They take some practice, but for the most part, the wand is good enough-until you try non-dairy milk. Unfortunately, those appliances only steam aggressively at one temperature- that might be fine for dairy milk, but almond, soy, or coconut milk can break (or denature) under the same circumstances. This leaves me with gritty milk-and that does not meet my bougie coffee baseline for satisfaction.

You can understand why I was wary when I first tried the Dreo. For starters, this appliance specializes in the milk part of a latte, cappuccino, flat white, or what have you. It uses a small attachment fan or spring spinner to make the foam and most importantly, it has a control panel where you choose the type of milk you're using. The BaristaMaker takes care of the rest, heating the milk to its optimum temperature for a preset duration of time. Read my full review for more details.

The BaristaMaker truly makes professional-quality foamed milk, and it even makes cold foam for iced lattes. My partner and I are casually obsessed with ours and we've been using it for over a year now. Dreo has another version that just came out recently and that, too, is on sale. I haven't tried the newer version but it has a cheaper retail price. To complete your elevated coffee experience, try a single-origin bag of beans from my favorite coffee shop, Cafe Grumpy. It's not on sale but I'll tell you, the roasters really know what they're doing over there.
