In a sweeping escalation of its attacks on institutions of higher education, Trump administration has suspended $584m in federal funding for the University of California, Los Angeles - nearly double the amount that was previously expected, the school's chancellor announced on Wednesday.
UCLA is the first public university whose federal grants have been targeted by the administration over allegations of civil rights violations related to antisemitism and affirmative action. It represents an expansion of the administration's months-long campaign targeting largely private, Ivy League colleges.
