A frat house rivalry escalated into a home invasion, a severe beating and nearly a dozen arrests - including that of Loyola University New Orleans' future star alum, who was said to be outside the invaded house. Llamas was never formally charged - while those close to the victims say there were no meaningful consequences

On an episode of Kelly Clarkson's talkshow in June, Loyola University New Orleans received the kind of publicity many schools dream of.

Clarkson's guest was Tom Llamas, newly minted anchor of the NBC Nightly News and a 2001 Loyola alumnus. And Llamas nodded when it was posed to him that he had gone to one of the best communications schools in the country".
