QuarterbacksBuyBrock Purdy, 49ers: Purdy has come a long way from his Mr. Irrelevant status, but he's still being undervalued by the fantasy community. Though he may not have the ceiling of the elite players at the position, the 25-year-old showed he can offer added production with his scrambling ability last year and has now finished as a top-12 fantasy QB in back-to-back seasons. With the fourth-easiest fantasy schedule at his position, Purdy is primed for another strong
SellPatrick Mahomes, Chiefs: It's not that Mahomes won't have a good fantasy season when all is said and done, but his opening month could be difficult with matchups against the division-rival Chargers, defending champion Eagles, improving Giants and upgraded Ravens defenses. He'll also be without Rashee Rice for the first six weeks and intriguing rookie wideout Jalen Royals has already been ruled out for Week 1.
I believe the Chiefs when they say they want to push the ball downfield more this year, I just don't project Mahomes to have many ceiling games in the opening month. His September results will likely be closer to his finishes in the last two seasons as the QB13 and QB12 in fantasy points per game. If you can capitalize on the name value, Mahomes is worth moving before his stock takes a hit early on.
