The fantasy football trolls were out in full force in Week 2 with these random TD scorers
I know I can't be the only one tilting my face off over some of these touchdown scorers so far in Week 2. It can't just be me, right? Sure, most weeks we get some rando vulturing a TD from our star running back or a depth wide receiver coming in on a gadget rush and finding paydirt. But what kind of fantasy football witchcraft has taken place to give us this Week 2 result? I feel like Mugatu with the crazy pills!

Anyway, surely you're in the same boat, so let's look at some of the players who aren't being rostered at all on Yahoo yet have scored a TD so far on Sunday.
Zero 0% WRsTylan Wallace, Ravens
Devontez Walker, Ravens
Mitchell Tinsley, Bengals
Mack Hollins, Patriots
Elijah Moore, Bills
AJ Barner, Seahawks
Luke Farrell, 49ers
Brock Wright, Lions
Davis Allen, Rams
Jeremy Ruckert, Jets
Alright, so let's start breaking this down a bit. We'll start with the most random name above, which is obviously Mitchell Tinsley.
The 25-year-old Lee's Summit, Missouri native spent the 2022 collegiate season with Penn State, so there are some people out there who must have heard of him. Tinsley went undrafted and was on the Commanders' practice squad last season. He landed in Cincy and, with WR Jermaine Burton out, was on the active roster for Week 2. The Bengals lost QB Joe Burrow in the first quarter to injury and Jake Browning took over. It was still Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins running the show in the Bengals' passing game but Tinsley was able to haul in his first career NFL TD on his only catch of the day for 13 yards.
What if I told you that the Ravens scored 40+ points in back-to-back weeks? What if I told you in Week 2 the Ravens dropped 41 points in a win over the Browns and Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson did absolutely nothing on the ground because - *checks box score* - Devontez Walker and Tylan Wallace scored a combined three touchdowns? You'd probably call me crazy, right? Well, I am. But that's besides the point. Walker and Wallace also had Zay Flowers' managers going a bit crazy, though he was still able to turn in a 7-75-0 line on 11 targets. I mean, Jackson didn't have a rush until the second half and finished with just 13 rushing yards in the win. Pretty wild after what we witnessed last week.
Mack Hollins and Elijah Moore aren't names we've never heard of but are random enough to include. Moore had some sleeper value going into the 2025 season as a depth receiver on a good Bills offense. What's random is he scored on a rushing touchdown. Thankfully, James Cook managers already got plenty from him before all this went down.
Onto the tight ends. We'll start with the least surprising of the surprises in this group: Brock Wright. Sam LaPorta went to the locker room in the first half but was able to return in the Lions' blowout win over the Bears. Wright isn't a stranger to the end zone; he's scored nine times. Yes, NINE times, in his NFL career before getting his first of the season on Sunday.
Luke Farrell and Jake Tonges were tasked with filling the void left by Kittle's injury at tight end for the Niners. Plus, you've got backup QB Mac Jones starting for Brock Purdy, who was ruled out. So of course Jones found Farrell in the end zone and not Tonges, who scored last week.
We thought the Jets offense was going to be at least competent after Week 1. That wasn't the case at home vs. the Bills in Week 2, where the team's lone TD came from backup TE Jeremy Ruckert in garbage time. Plus, it wasn't even from Justin Fields, who was forced out of the game due to injury (and the game being meaningless at that point). Tyrod Taylor was the one who found Ruckert and not rookie TE Mason Taylor.
To round things out, Davis Allen scored for the Rams in a win over the Titans, which isn't really all that tilting for managers. Puka Nacua and Davante Adams each scored, though Tyler Higbee was one TD away from having an above-average showing in Week 2. So if you, for whatever reason, streamed Higbee, maybe you're upset over that. Blake Corum scoring over Kyren Williams most likely ticked off quite a few of you, though.
Final ThoughtsAre we rushing to pick up any of these non-rostered players? Not particularly. Are they worth throwing on your waiver wire watch list? I wouldn't even go that far. Really, there was just an unusually high amount of scoring in Week 2 in the early window, so we got 10 randos making due in fantasy football. Is it going to happen again? Maybe. Crazier things have happened in this world. But for now, just chalk these random TDs up as an L for anyone who made sound fantasy football decisions in Week 2 and lost out because the chaos didn't land in their favor.
