Start-sit decisions can be vexing for even the best of fantasy managers. Here's our Week 7 trafficreport to help you make some of those calls this week.
Green LightRB Rico Dowdle at Jets: He's too hot to sit right now, coming off back-to-back 200-yard games, and I suspect he'll still get the lead role even with Chuba Hubbard expected back. The Jets have defended the run well but I'm not sitting Dowdle in any format.
RB Quinshon Judkins vs. Dolphins: He was game-scripted off the field in Pittsburgh, but now he takes dead aim at a Miami front seven that's one of the worst in the NFL. Keep the faith.
WR Davante Adams vs. Jaguars (London): With Puka Nacua likely to rest, Adams probably has 10-plus targets in his back pocket before this game even starts. Matthew Stafford and Sean McVay generally feed their top receiver.
TE Harold Fannin Jr. vs. Dolphins: If David Njoku (knee) can't go on Sunday, Fannin sets up to be the top Cleveland receiver. The Miami seam coverage was beaten by another rookie, Oronde Gadsden, last week.
RB David Montgomery vs. Buccaneers: Tampa Bay is generally stout against the run and Jahmyr Gibbs has taken over as Detroit's No. 1 back. But Montgomery has high touchdown equity with Detroit playing at home and favored by 5.5 points; look for double-digit touches and at least one spike from Montgomery in prime time.
Yellow LightWR Rashee Rice vs. Raiders: He has a plausible case to be in the WR1 area for the remainder of the season, but I want to keep expectations realistic as he makes his first start in over a year. At least take heart that the Chiefs have essentially turned into a pass-first team again, letting MVP-favorite Patrick Mahomes do the cooking.
WR George Pickens vs. Commanders: Pickens was performing at a WR3 level when CeeDee Lamb was healthy; he's been the best receiver in fantasy since. A modest downshift for Pickens is likely with Lamb coming back, but he could settle into the WR2 bucket.
TE Mason Taylor vs. Panthers: I understand it's hard to trust anything with the Jets right now, but Taylor's opportunity should rise with Garrett Wilson out, and the Panthers haven't defended the tight end well all year.
QB Baker Mayfield at Lions: He's missing all sorts of key personnel for the Monday showdown in Detroit, but the Lions secondary is also riddled with injuries. Mayfield usually finds a way to produce no matter the circumstances, and a juicy 52.5-point total is posted for this game.
RB Tyjae Spears vs. Patriots: He probably doesn't have the body type to be a true bell cow, and I understand if you've written off the Tennessee offense completely. But Spears did outsnap Tony Pollard last week, and perhaps a new coaching staff will be interested in seeing what Spears could do in a featured role.
Red LightQB Jaxson Dart at Broncos: His aggressive running does provide some floor, but the Broncos defense remains the gold standard in the NFL. And with Denver's offense also struggling right now, this might turn into a low-scoring slog where both teams run a conservative offense and shorten the game.
TE T.J. Hockenson vs. Eagles: He's not getting downfield these days (8.1 YPC) and he has just one touchdown in his last 15 games. Big names don't really matter in fantasy football; we just want the numbers. Look for a younger alternative for your tight end.
RB TreVeyon Henderson at Titans: He's probably the most talented runner in the New England backfield, but despite the Antonio Gibson injury and Rhamondre Stevenson's fumbling problems, Henderson has failed to launch. We need a prove-it game before Henderson can be started with any confidence.
QB Justin Fields vs. Panthers: His confidence has to be shaken after taking nine sacks against Denver last week, and top receiver Garrett Wilson is expected to miss multiple games. The New York WR room after Wilson is probably the worst in the league.
