While the bar might move occasionally, the general focus is to search among the group of players who are rostered in 15% of the Yahoo leagues or less.
Isaiah Davis, RB, Jets (10% rostered)Davis is making another appearance in this column - after being featured a couple of weeks ago - because he's still available in 90% of leagues. That's very surprising, considering the constant buzz surrounding Breece Hall potentially being traded before the deadline on November 4.
Davis is also coming off a career day where he took advantage of an easy matchup against the Bengals and put up 109 scrimmage yards (65 rushing, 44 receiving) behind Hall, who had 147 yards and three scores.
The Jets are on bye until Week 10, so if Hall is dealt, it'll happen before the next time they take the field. In the meantime, Davis should be viewed as a one-injury away upside stash who could turn into a low-end RB2/high-end RB3 if Hall is moved out of the picture.
Honorable mention: Blake Corum, Rams (8% rostered), Samaje Perine, Bengals (7% rostered), Emanuel Wilson, Packers (6% rostered), Devin Neal, Saints (4% rostered), Devin Singletary, Giants (3% rostered), Keaton Mitchell, Ravens (1% rostered)
Pat Bryant, WR, Broncos (1% rostered)Don't look now, but one of my preseason deep sleepers is finally starting to carve out a role in the Broncos' offense.
Bryant had played over 50% of Denver's snaps in four consecutive outings and just scored his first NFL touchdown on Sunday.
The third-round pick will continue to be part of the Broncos' WR rotation behind Courtland Sutton, but the fact that he's finding ways to contribute with his newfound opportunities is the key. That should only lead to more usage as the season progresses.
Treat Bryant as a deep stash for now, but his physical style and nose for the end zone could turn him into a fantasy option down the stretch.
Honorable mention: Jalen Coker, Panthers (5% rostered), Calvin Austin III, Steelers (9% rostered), Tory Horton, Seahawks (3% rostered), Jack Bech, Raiders (1% rostered), Jaylin Lane, Commanders (1% rostered), Roman Wilson, Steelers (1% rostered), Parker Washington, Jaguars (1% rostered), Jalen McMillan, Buccaneers (3% rostered, IR stash)
AJ Barner, TE, Seahawks (9% rostered)Barner is coming off a quiet one-catch game prior to the Seahawks' Week 8 bye, but don't let that overshadow what he did before that.
The 23-year-old had at least 70 or a touchdown in four of the previous five outings. That made him a top-12 tight end in fantasy points per game over the first six weeks.
Over the next two weeks, he'll face the Commanders and Cardinals, who are both among the seven most generous defenses to fantasy tight ends.
If you're looking for a bye-week or injury replacement, you could do a lot worse than Barner.
Honorable mention: Isaiah Likely, Ravens (5% rostered), Noah Fant, Bengals (4% rostered), Brenton Strange, Jaguars (13% rostered, IR stash)
Mac Jones, QB, 49ers (9% rostered)Brock Purdy is practicing in a limited fashion and nearing his return to the lineup. Whether that occurs this week or next is still up in the air.
If Jones gets another start, it will be the easiest matchup he's faced this season. The Giants are allowing the third-most fantasy points to quarterbacks, including top-four weekly finishes to Box Nix (QB1) and Jalen Hurts (QB4) the last two games.
We know Jones can be a strong fantasy option in Kyle Shanahan's system, so monitor Purdy's status to see if Jones is streamable in Week 9.
Honorable mention: Bryce Young, Panthers (14% rostered), Tyler Shough, Saints (3% rostered), Jake Browning, Bengals (1% rostered)
