Travis Hunter is being placed on injured reserve by the Jacksonville Jaguars due to a knee injury, head coach Liam Coen said Friday.

"You just feel bad for the guy, for the kid, for our team, for everything," Coen said. "But he's in good spirits right now. Minor setback for a major comeback. That's just the way it's gotta be."

According to Coen, Hunter suffered the non-contact injury during Thursday's practice. When asked if Hunter would return this season, the head coach would only say, "we're still evaluating it."

The Jaguars wide receiver/cornerback, who was listed as a limited participant in practice on Thursday, will miss at least the next four weeks and will be eligible to return to action on Nov. 30 against the Tennessee Titans.

The injury is a big blow to the 4-3 Jaguars as they chase an AFC playoff spot. It's also a blow for Hunter, who is coming off the best game of his young career. During last week's 35-7 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner made 8 receptions on 14 targets for 101 yards and a touchdown.

Prior to Week 8, Hunter's season-high in receiving yards was 64 and he had not caught a touchdown pass.

The two-way playing Hunter has seen a majority of his work coming on the offensive side of the ball. In 486 total snaps this season, 324 have come with the offense, while 162 have been at cornerback.

Through eight weeks Hunter has 28 receptions for 298 receiving yards and a touchdown, along with 15 tackles and three pass deflections.
