The Giantswill have one less thing to worry about when they face off against the Chicago Bears in their Week 10 matchup.

Bears LB T.J. Edwards underwent hand surgery during the week, head coach Ben Johnson said Friday, and won't suit up against New York on Sunday afternoon.

Edwards, who's also dealing with a hamstring injury that has kept him out of three games, broke his hand in the team's Week 9 win over the Cincinnati Bengals and did not practice this week. Johnson said Edwards will wear a cast on his hand when he's able to return, noting that he won't be placed on the IR and hopes to return sooner than the required four game absence.

Despite missing three games already, Edwards is sixth on the team in total tackles with 31 (12 solo, 19 assisted) over five games.

Additionally, the Bears may get RB D'Andre Swift back on the field after he missed last week's game due to a groin injury. Swift, who's listed as questionable, was limited in practice Wednesday and was a full participant Thursday, but did not practice Friday due to a non-injury related, "personal" reason, the team said.

Swift has 100 carries for 464 yards and four touchdowns this season, plus 18 receptions for 192 yards and a TD over seven games.

With Swift out against the Bengals, rookie RB Kyle Monangai shined in his place. The Rutgers product had the best game of his young career, rushing for 176 yards on 26 carries with a long of 39 yards. He also caught three passes for 22 yards in the 47-42 victory.

If Swift can't go, Monangai and Brittain Brown, who had five carries for 37 yards and a TD last week, will continue to share the workload out of the backfield.

The Giants defense has struggled against the run this year, allowing 150 yards per game on the ground to opponents (31st in the NFL) and 12 rushing touchdowns. They'll need to step up and find ways to stop the Bears rushing attack, which is averaging 144.4 yards per game (2nd in NFL), regardless of who is in the backfield on Sunday.
