The New York Jets won't have their top receiver Thursday night in Foxborough or for the subsequent three games. Ahead of their Week 11 AFC East showdown with the New England Patriots, they placed Garrett Wilson on injured reserve with a knee injury.

That means Wilson will have to miss a minimum of four games. In other words, his earliest return to game action would be in Week 15 during a Dec. 14 road game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Wilson suffered what's been reported as a sprained knee during the third quarter of a 27-20 win over the Cleveland Browns this past weekend. The 2022 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year injured his right knee, the same one he hyperextended late in a 13-11 defeat to the Denver Broncos in London.

That Week 6 injury cost Wilson two games. With Thursday's designation, he'll now miss at least six total games this season, his fourth in the league after the team drafted him 10th overall out of Ohio State.

The news comes two days after first-year head coach Aaron Glenn announced he'll "pass" on injury questions and refused to answer one about whether Wilson was a candidate for IR, instead referring the media to ESPN's Rich Cimini, who initially reported that Wilson would miss at least three to four weeks with the knee issue.

"Ask Rich," Glenn said.

Wilson is a bright spot among a dim Jets aerial attack that enters Thursday night's game at Gillette Stadium dead last in passing yards per game.

Although he reunited with former Buckeyes signal-caller Justin Fields, neither have broken out. Wilson has yet to eclipse the 400-yard receiving mark, averaging just 56.4 yards per game in that department.

Fields, meanwhile, has mostly struggled in this third audition for NFL franchise quarterback. He was benched during a Week 7 loss to the Carolina Panthers and then put on blast by Jets owner Woody Johnson. Since, however, he's been part of back-to-back New York wins, taking some pressure off a club that started the 2025 campaign with an 0-7 record.

Despite a revolving door at quarterback, Wilson posted 1,000-yard receiving seasons each of his first three years in the NFL.

His knee problems this time around have jeopardized that streak.

While Wilson will be sidelined Thursday, wideout AD Mitchell could see the field. Mitchell was part of the blockbuster deadline deal that sent two-time All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts.

In addition to a pair of first-round picks, the Jets received Mitchell in exchange.
