NFL Injury Report: Tracking latest news, updates for Daniel Jones, CeeDee Lamb, more for fantasy football in Week 15
For many of you, you're here because you made it to your fantasy football playoffs. Welcome to the party, pal. As always, the NFL injury report is ever-changing and always evolving. We could see additional names start to pop up early in the week at practice with veterans resting more as the actual NFL playoffs approach. You'll not only want to monitor the injury report here but also the standings and what coaches are saying about player usage going into matchups.
Below we'll recap some injuries from Week 14 and lookahead to the Week 15 report.
Latest news and updatesDaniel Jones, QB, Colts (Achilles): Jones entered Week 14 with a fractured fibula he was going to play through the rest of the season. Things got worse when he was helped off on Sunday vs. the Jaguars with an Achilles injury. ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting Jones will undergo season-ending surgery for a torn Achilles. Riley Leonard came in relief of Jones and finished the loss to Jacksonville with 145 yards and one INT.
This will have a major impact on the Colts' offense outside of Jonathan Taylor. The top back might get a slight knock if the passing game falls apart. But JT should still get heavy volume to keep his floor but defenses could key in on him, making the yards tougher to get and the touchdowns scarce. Indy also has a tough schedule in the fantasy playoffs: at Seattle, vs. San Francisco, vs. Jacksonville.
Jayden Daniels, QB, Commanders (elbow): Daniels was taken out of Week 14 against the Vikings after a big hit on a play in which he was picked off. After the game, head coach Dan Quinn told reporters Daniels could have returned but he was held out as a precaution with Washington down big. The Commanders have nothing to play for so it's confusing why they don't shut Daniels down for the season. Anyway, we'll have to monitor the practice reports this week. If it isn't Daniels, it's back to Marcus Mariota in Week 15 vs. the Giants.
CeeDee Lamb, WR, Cowboys (concussion): Lamb is doing well after sustaining a concussion on TNF vs. the Lions in Week 14. He'll likely head to protocol but has had additional time to recover after playing on Thursday. If Lamb can't get right before Sunday Night Football against Minnesota, George Pickens, Jake Ferguson and Ryan Flournoy will all benefit. Ferguson was getting elite TE1 looks while Lamb was out from Weeks 3-6. In that same span, Pickens had five touchdowns. Flournoy posted a 9-115-1 line against Detroit following Lamb's exit.
DK Metcalf, WR, Steelers (stomach): Metcalf stayed overnight at a Baltimore hospital after experiencing stomach pains following the team's win over the Ravens on Sunday. Reports are calling the move precautionary, so it doesn't appear as if Metcalf suffered anything serious. Still, we'll keep an eye on his practice status for this week. Pittsburgh faces Miami on MNF in Week 15.
De'Von Achane, RB, Dolphins (rib): Achane left in the second quarter vs. the Jets in Week 14 and didn't return due to a rib injury. Miami held out its top back mostly while holding a huge lead over the New York Jets. After the game, Mike McDaniel said Achane avoided a break and was available to return. Still, monitor Achane's status this week at practice and add Jaylen Wright if you're an Achane manager.
