The Denver Broncos, led by Sean Payton, would like to use more two tight end sets on offense in 2026. Their tight end group from last season left much to be desired.

One thing they will need in order to be successful in heavier tight end sets is a tight end who is really good at blocking, yet able to be a reliable pass catcher in spots.

That makes Adam Trautman a natural fit for the Broncos. He led the Broncos' tight end group in snaps last season due to his versatility and run-blocking prowess.

Player Profile

Height: 6'5"

Weight: 253 pounds

Age: 29

Experience: 6 NFL seasons

2025 stats: 20 receptions, 195 yards receiving, 9.8 yards per reception, and 1 touchdown

OverTheCap projects his salary to be in the $5.8M range

Why the Broncos should sign

Unless he gets a really rich contract elsewhere, resigning Trautman is a slam-dunk move for the Broncos. He knows this offense very well. He has great upside as a blocking tight end. He has shown the ability to be a consistent pass catcher as well.

Why the Broncos shouldn't sign

The biggest reason not to offer him a contract is that he lacks upside as a playmaker after the catch. If the Broncos want a tight end that can create more in the passing game, Trautman isn't likely the answer to that question.

Final thoughts

Signing Adam Trautman back isn't a flashy move for this offense, but it is a smart move in my eyes. He is a solid player who can help this offense get on track in the running game. The tight end room needs a guy like this on the roster.
