Much was made over the weekend about the Philadelphia Eagles reportedly receiving calls about trading Jalen Carter. But Bill Colarulo of 97.5 The Fanatic is now reporting that those rumors were potentially just a negotiating tactic, and that, in fact, the team and Carter are in talks on a long-term contract extension.

The Jalen Carter trade rumors are anything but, it is the complete opposite. They are in discussions for a long-term contract extension for Jalen Carter as we speak. So, I would not be shocked if we get news in the next 24 hours that Jalen Carter, just like Jordan Davis, enters into a long-term contract with the Philadelphia Eagles."

Colarulo also cites Carter's exceptional" relationship with Eagles senior defensive assistant/defensive line coach Clint Hurtt as a big reason why the Pro Bowl defensive tackle wants to stay in Philadelphia.

This potential development seems in line with what general manager Howie Roseman spoke about during the NFL Combine, explaining that they prefer to draft players and keep them in-house as much as possible. It also makes sense given that the team just signed Jordan Davis to an extension - keeping the Georgia teammates together up front in Philadelphia will be a big problem for opposing offenses for years to come.

Of course, the Eagles would be banking on Carter to be a better version of the player who was injured and inconsistent in 2025.
