What the Giants could do at edge rusher in the 2026 NFL Draft

Sure, this roster feels set at the edge rusher spot - with Brian Burns coming off his finest NFL season, Kayvon Thibodeaux returning from a shoulder injury and Abdul Carter coming off an interesting rookie year.

What was it that former general manager Ernie Accorsi used to say about edge rushers? They are like starting pitchers - you can never have enough or too many.

This does not mean the Giants will take one at No. 5, and they are likely to pass up this position on Day 2 of the draft.

But you never know. And if Rueben Bain Jr. is sitting there at No. 5? Maybe a trade down with a team that covets Bain to add more picks.

If GM Joe Schoen and the scouting department on Day 3 are high on someone such as Malachi Lawrence (UCF), Trey Moore (Texas), Dani Dennis-Sutton (Penn State) or George Gumbs Jr. (Florida), perhaps a match will be made.

Still, new defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson will find it a challenge to get Burns, Carter and Thibodeaux on the field at the same time - not a bad problem to deal with.
