The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) cleared an officer on Saturday for shooting Daniel Tronko during a 24-hour standoff with police in Welland, Ont., on Dec. 19 that had the neighbourhood under a shelter-in-place, nearby schools under lockdown and a local hospital under a hold-and-secure.
