Air search and rescue volunteers ready to leap into action at a moment's notice

When he retired as an Air Canada pilot 10 years ago after a 38-year career flying passenger jets, Paul Eyles wasn't ready to just sit in a rocking chair and stare out the window. "I was looking for something meaningful to do," the Grimsby resident said. He quickly found that in the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association (CASARA) Niagara, where for most of the last decade he's been volunteering as a pilot on searches for missing people, downed planes and other critical searches.
