The opening of the new 160-bed Pleasant Manor long-term care home in Virgil, Ont., is welcome news to Sandra Beatty. She lives just minutes away and can now easily visit her elderly mom, who has vascular dementia. Niagara-on-the-Lake now has 39 long-term care beds more than it did before Upper Canada Lodge closed in 2024.
