As the fifth overall pick, Reese's contract is a four-year deal worth $47.831 million with a $31.2 million signing bonus.

Reese has been a consistent presence in practice so far, garnering praise for plays made as well as his ability to be in the right place at the right time despite being a rookie.

Signing the Giants' rookie class has been a dance of cap machinations. 10th overall pick offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa signed his rookie contractwhen the team came together for this week's OTAs on Wednesday 27th. However, the team didn't have the cap room at the time to sign Reese and finish off their class.

That changed on Thursday when the Giants reworked star left tackle Andrew Thomas' contract to create $6.46 million in cap space for this season. That move gave the Giants the cap space to sign Reese while remaining both cap compliant and maintain some cap flexibility.

That cap flexibility became relevant once again on Friday when receiver and punt returner Gunner Olszewski suffered what is feared to be a torn Achilles. It remains to be seen whether the Giants will make any other moves to help add to their roster and replace Olszewski.
